Support Rustty Development

Rustty is an open-source Rust port of Ghostty. Here is how to help, and how to support upstream Ghostty.

Rustty is developed as open-source work in the AirelyDev/rustty repository. It is a full-fidelity Rust port of Ghostty by Mitchell Hashimoto and the Ghostty contributors.

We believe terminal and terminal-related technologies are critical infrastructure for modern computing and software development. Whether it's directly used by developers or indirectly used through products such as editors, CI logs, PaaS consoles, agentic tools, and more, terminals continue to be a foundational technology underpinning much of our modern computing ecosystem.

How to Contribute

The most useful help is contribution. See the contributing guide for how to open issues and pull requests. Good contributions include:

  • Testing source builds on your platform.
  • Filing clear issues with logs, versions, and reproduction steps.
  • Improving documentation.
  • Helping keep terminal compatibility notes precise and reproducible.

Support Upstream Ghostty

Rustty exists because of Ghostty, and its design, architecture, and terminal behavior all belong to that project. If you value this work, please consider supporting Ghostty directly. Ghostty is a non-profit project with its own funding, contributor compensation, and governance, none of which apply to Rustty. See Support Ghostty Development for details.
